Kenneth Woodhouse, MD, FRCP, ILTM is pro vice-chancellor of Cardiff University in Wales, UK. He was a senior lecturer in Medicine, Pharmacology, and Geriatrics at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1985, and moved to Cardiff as professor of Geriatrics in 1990. He has a longstanding interest in medical education. Dr. Woodhouse played a major role in introducing the new curriculum to Wales and for the development of the ‘all Wales’ role of the Medical School. He became vice dean of Medicine in 1996 and dean in 2000.
Dr. Woodhouse is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London; a member of the Institute of Learning and Teaching; a member of the British Geriatrics Society Council; and a BGS representative to the International Association of Gerontology. He is also a member of the Committee on Safety of Medicines. Dr. Woodhouse recently chaired the Wales Care Strategy, and is chair of the National Commissioning Board of Health Commission Wales, responsible for commissioning all Specialist Health Services in Wales.
Dr. Woodhouse is co-author of Brocklehurst’s Textbook of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, 7th Edition.
