Linda D. Gillam, MD is a renowned cardiologist, specializing in echocardiography, valvular heart disease, and heart disease in women. She is an author of more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, 11 book chapters, and served on the editorial boards of Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging, Circulation, and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. She is co-author of Advanced Echocardiographic Approaches, a volume in the Practical Echocardiography series.
Dr. Gillam served as Medical Director of the Cardiac Valve Program and Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University. She was president of the American Society of Echocardiography, and was a member of the board of trustees and board of governors of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Gillam was former chair of the Women in Cardiology Committee of the American Heart Association and served on the leadership committee of the AHA Council on Clinical Cardiology.
Dr. Gillam has been acknowledged with the Richard Popp Distinguished Teacher Award from the American Society of Echocardiography, the Women in Cardiology Mentoring Award from the American Heart Association Council on Clinical Cardiology, the American College of Cardiology Distinguished Service Award, and the McDonald Lectureship Award of the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation.
