Mark L. Jewell, MD is in private practice in Eugene, Oregon, and is Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Oregon Health Science University. He is a co-author of Body Contouring and Liposuction.
After receiving his medical degree from the University of Kansas, Dr. Jewell performed his internship/residency at UCLA Harbor General in Torrance, California; USC Medical Center; and University of Tennessee. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed scientific articles, book chapters, and books, and is an educator and symposium participant within the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America.
Dr. Jewell served as President of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) in 2005-06. Currently, he is the United States National Secretary for the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He also served as a Governor for the National Endowment for Plastic Surgery and as a member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Jewell is a former member of the Board of Directors for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and Vice President of the America Society Education and Research Foundation (ASERF).
Dr. Jewell has developed numerous innovations in how plastic surgery is practiced today in areas of face, breast, and body contouring surgery, in addition to tissue fillers and neurotoxin research. He is a key opinion leader and clinical researcher in how new products and devices are being brought to the market in order to improve patient outcomes and safety. Dr. Jewell’s contributions to aesthetic surgery have been recognized by his colleagues who awarded him the Tiffany Award for best scientific paper that was given by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Jewell is a recognized world leader in plastic surgery with his development of the Physicians Coalition for Injectable Safety, a consortium of approximately 40,000 physicians from the major specialties (plastic surgery, dermatology, facial plastic surgery, and oculoplastic surgery) who are trained in cosmetic medicine and injectables.
