Mark J. Mannis, MD, FACS is Professor and Chair in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Science at UC Davis Health System Eye Center, University of California, Davis, in Sacramento. He is a co-author of the two-volume set, Cornea, 3rd Edition and Ocular Surface Disease: Cornea, Conjunctiva and Tear Film.
Dr. Mannis received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. He performed an internship at the University of Vermont, followed by a residency at Washington University in St. Louis and a fellowship in cornea and external eye disease at the University of Iowa. He is board certified in ophthalmology.
Dr. Mannis specializes in corneal transplantation and external diseases of the eye. His research has included development of experimental antimicrobial agents and growth factors that affect the corneal wound healing rate, skin diseases that affect the eye, and outcomes of corneal transplants and artificial corneas. He has authored over 125 publications and five books on topics relating to corneal surgery and disease.
Dr. Mannis is a member of numerous professional associations and has been named a U.S. News Top Doctor, among the top 1% in his specialty.
