Matthew J. Price, MD is director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California. He is also assistant professor at the Scripps Translational Science Institute. Dr. Price is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology. His clinical and research focus includes high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), interventional approaches to congenital and structural heart disease, and anti-platelet therapy. Dr Price helps to lead several clinical trials examining the effectiveness of anti-platelet therapy and is the principal investigator of GRAVITAS, a randomized clinical trial to examine the safety and efficacy of individualized thienopyrdine therapy after PCI.

After graduating from Cornell University with Distinction in All Subjects, he earned his MD at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine, and he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the UCLA Center for Health Sciences. Dr. Price subsequently completed a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he served as chief fellow. He completed his training in interventional cardiology at Scripps Clinic.

Dr. Price is the author of numerous publications including Coronary Stenting: A Companion to Topol’s Textbook of Interventional Cardiology.
