Michael J. Coughlin, MD is an internationally renowned expert in the field of foot and ankle surgery. He has been in a practice as an orthopaedic surgeon for more than 30 years, and is head of the Coughlin Foot and Ankle Clinic at St. Alphonsus. He is author and co-editor of several texts on foot and ankle surgery, including the two-volume set, Surgery of the Foot and Ankle, 8th Edition.
Dr. Coughlin’s professional appointments include membership on the National Football League Injury Committee, past president of the International Federation of Foot & Ankle Societies, the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, and the Idaho Orthopaedic Association. He also served as chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, and as president-elect for the International Federation of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Coughlin completed his medical education at the University of Oregon Medical School, and his internship and residency training at the University of California, San Francisco. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
