Michelle M. Cloutier, MD is Professor of Pediatrics, University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut and Director Emeritus, Asthma Center, The Children’s Center for Community Research, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. She is the author of Respiratory Physiology, 2nd Edition.

 

Dr. Cloutier received her medical degree from University of Wisconsin. She performed a Pediatric Pulmonary fellowship at University of Florida and a Pediatric Intensive Care fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

 

Her research on pediatric asthma involves the factors that support and impede implementation of best practices by primary care providers, the genetic and environmental factors associated with urban asthma in children, and development of a statewide and national system for implementing best practices associated with asthma in children and adults. Her research on obesity includes the use of interventions by primary care clinicians to prevent childhood obesity and multi-level, multi-disciplinary, community-based interventions designed to prevent obesity in children.

 

Dr. Cloutier’s many awards and recognitions include the President’s Research Award, University of Connecticut; Best Doctors in America for multiple years; Academy of Distinguished Educators, University of Connecticut School of Medicine; Health Care Hero Award, Hartford Business Journal; America’s Top Pediatrician; and Frederick B. Wilkes Award “Teacher of the Year,” Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
