Mordecai P. Blaustein, MD is Professor of Physiology at the University of Maryland and Director of the Maryland Center for Heart, Hypertension, and Kidney Disease. He also serves as affiliate faculty at the Medical Biotechnology Center. He is an award winning researcher in the area of hypertension, and has published extensively in this area. He is the editor of the second edition of Cellular Physiology and Neurophysiology, a volume in the Mosby Physiology Monograph Series.
Dr. Blaustein has dedicated four decades to the research and treatment of hypertension, and he is the recipient of the prestigious Novartis Award for Hypertension Research—one of the highest honors in the field. His work has been funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke, and the American Heart Association.
