Morton J. Kern, MD, FACC, is a Professor of Medicine and Associate Chief of Cardiology at the University of California, Irvine, and serves as Chief of Cardiology at Long Beach Veterans Administration Hospital. He previously served as a Professor of Medicine at St. Louis University. His primary research interests include interventional cardiology education and practice, acute coronary syndromes, hemodynamics, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He is author of the Cardiac Catheterization Handbook, 5th Edition and The Interventional Cardiac Catheterization Handbook, 3rd Edition.
Dr. Kern has been a fellow of the American Heart Association, the Council on Clinical Cardiology, the Society for Cardiac Angiography, and the American College of Cardiology. He is a recipient of the Simon Dack Award by the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and he has been named a 2008 SoCal ‘Super’ Doctor by Orange County Magazine.
