This is a pictorial guide to physical examination skills. It has extensive reproductions of Dr. Frank Netter’s and other medical artists’ illustrations to depict the major points of the physical examination.

 

Purpose

The purpose is to give students a pocket-sized memory aid for use when learning the key points of the physical examination.

 

Audience

This is a superb memory aid for medical and nursing students in their early years of getting comfortable with the physical examination.

 

Features

The book is divided into the major organ systems with subchapters outlining the pertinent physical examination findings and how to conduct the examination. The illustrations and figures are outstandingly well presented, descriptive, and intuitive. There are a few references to the standard books on physical examination if readers wish more detail.

 

Assessment

Overall, this is the best pocket-sized memory aid for the physical examination available to students.
