This is, simply, my favorite GI surgery book. I found it valuable as a senior resident, and I anticipate that it will be valuable in the future as the landscape of surgery changes. The foresight to include new surgical technologies, such as the POEM or the Magnetic Sphincter Augmentation Device (Linx), underscores the authors’ commitment to remaining current rather than focusing just on the tried and true surgical options. Like the previous edition, this update is a comprehensive yet succinct resource on pediatric neoplasms. As a trainee, I love the quick-reference, outline-style format. I can easily flip to a page, read key facts, scan the differential, and check out the photos to see what I want to know. I use this while previewing and I take it home to review and study. MORE

This edition marks the start of a new era for this long-standing book. Fans of the single-authored book can rest easy, as the authors have done a wonderful job of maintaining the pragmatic approach of earlier editions. Although extensive revisions and updates have been made, they augment rather than replace the original voice of the book. MORE
