How has Sabiston and Spencer Surgery of the Chest, 10th Edition evolved since the previous edition? How has it evolved since the first edition?
We took over from David Sabiston and Frank Spencer one of the classic textbooks in cardiothoracic surgery 20 years ago. It has been completely updated since then. The new edition contains the latest information for all cardiothoracic surgeons. The percutaneous valve repair and replacement and standard and minimally invasive coronary revascularization content are totally rewritten. All other sections have been updated with the newest information by experts in the field.
What is the most exciting aspect of the new edition? What chapter or topic covered in Sabiston and Spencer Surgery of the Chest, 10th Edition are you most excited about?
Cardiothoracic surgery has evolved and changed considerably since the last edition was published. I believe the new edition contains the newest information.

What new ideas, practices, or procedures would you like to highlight for the new edition?
Minimally invasive approaches to cardiac and thoracic surgery, updated basic science sections, and guideline modeled chapters.
What problem do you hope the future generation of your specialty will be able to solve?
Treating cardiothoracic diseases in the least invasive, effective manner.
Is there anything else about the book you’d like to say?
It has been a pleasure doing this edition.
