Richard J. Johnson, MD is internationally recognized for his work on mechanisms of renal injury and progression, including in glomerulonephritis, diabetes, and hypertension. He has authored more than 300 medical articles and lectured in more than 25 countries. Dr. Johnson received the American Society of Nephrology Young Investigator Award in 1994 and is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation. He is a professor at the University of Florida, where he served as Chief of the Division of Nephrology, Hypertension, and Renal Transplantation. He is editor of the 4th edition of Comprehensive Clinical Nephrology.
