Sanjeeva P. Kalva, MD is Associate Director of Clinical Affairs in the Division of Vascular Imaging and Intervention at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kalva is a co-author of Problem Solving in Radiology: Cardiovascular Imaging.
A native of the Coimbatore region, Dr. Kalva graduated from Nizams Institute of Medical Science and completed his interventional radiology training at the Kovai Medical Center as well as at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board certified in diagnostic radiology and vascular and interventional radiology, has contributed to dozens of professional publications, and is a past president of the New England Society of Interventional Radiology.
Dr. Kalva’s clinical interests include interventional oncology, venous thromboembolism, inferior vena cava filters, varicose veins, visceral artery aneurysms, segmental arterial mediolysis, fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD), and uterine fibroid embolization (UFE).
Dr. Kalva is actively involved in research studies related to trans-arterial therapy of liver cancer through chemoembolization using drug-eluting microspheres and radiation-emitting-microspheres. Other areas of his research include transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts for liver cirrhosis and Budd-Chiari syndromes, uterine fibroid embolization and varicose veins.
