Sean C. Lucan, MD, MPH, MS is an assistant professor in the Department of Family and Social Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He is also an adjunct fellow at the Penn Center for Public Health Initiatives at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Lucan is a co-author of Jekel’s Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Preventive Medicine, and Public Health, 4th Edition.

Dr. Lucan earned his MD from Yale University in 2004. He also completed an MPH degree at Yale, before entering residency in family medicine and community health at the University of Pennsylvania. He stayed on at Penn to perform a research fellowship in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program where he earned an MS in health policy research.

Dr. Lucan’s research focuses on how different aspects of urban food environments may influence dietary behaviors and risks for obesity and chronic disease, particularly for low-income and minority communities. His current work involves measuring, modeling, and mapping neighborhood food environments in the Bronx, New York.
