Shawn Christopher Shea, MD is the Director of the Training Institute for Suicide Assessment and Clinical Interviewing and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Dartmouth Medical School. An internationally acclaimed workshop leader, motivational speaker, and innovator, he has made over 850 presentations worldwide. Dr. Shea is the creator of the highly acclaimed Chronological Assessment of Suicide Events (the CASE Approach) and many other techniques that have been adopted around the world. Dr. Shea’s writings have been translated into a variety of languages. He has been a guest lecturer at numerous academic centers and is a respected consultant on preventing suicide in the military.
Dr. Shea is the author of numerous articles and books including Psychiatric Interviewing: the Art of Understanding, both editions of which have been chosen by the Medical Library Association for the Brandon/Hill List as one of the 16 most important books in the field of psychiatry.
