Shlomo Melmed, MB ChB, MACP,FRCP pioneered novel medical management strategies for pituitary tumors. His medical research focuses on endocrine aspects of pituitary neoplasia, molecular pathogenesis and treatment of pituitary tumors, and growth factor regulation of anterior pituitary function. Dr. Melmed was President and founding member of the Pituitary Society, co-chairs its Program Committee, and was an elected member of the Endocrine Society Council, and was Director of the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP).
Dr. Melmed served as editor-in-chief of Pituitary, the leading specialty journal, and he serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Investigation and Endocrine Pathology, and served five-years as editor-in-chief of Endocrinology. He is an author of more than 180 peer-reviewed manuscripts and more than 50 medical book chapters, monographs, and reviews. Dr. Melmed is an editor of the 12th edition of Williams Textbook of Endocrinology and associate editor of Endocrinology, 6th Edition lead by Dr. Larry Jameson and Dr. Leslie DeGroot.
