SriniVas R. Sadda, MD is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Medical Retina Service at Doheny Eye Institute, USC Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He is a co-author of the bestselling Retina, 5th Edition.
Dr. Sadda received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Following an internship at the W. Beaumont Hospital, he completed his ophthalmology residency and fellowships in neuro-ophthalmology and medical retina at the Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Sadda’s clinical interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, inherited retinal degenerations, and other maculopathies. His research interests include advanced retinal imaging technologies, image processing algorithms, image analysis and grading, retinal electrophysiology, retinal stem cell transplantation, and artificial vision devices.
Dr. Sadda has received numerous awards, including the Senior Honor Award from the American Society of Retina Specialists, Secretariat and Achievement Awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Zumberge Research and Innovation Award, the Estelle Doheny Living Tribute Award, and the Macula Society Young Investigator Award. Dr. Sadda has also received competitive Research Awards from Research to Prevent Blindness, Foundation Fighting Blindness, and the Foundation for Retinal Research. He has been named a U.S. News Top Doctor in the top 1% of his specialty.
Dr. Sadda is an expert in macular diseases and retinal imaging and diagnostics, and has been selected by his peers as one of the Best Doctors in America. He has given over 70 visiting professorships or invited lectures, over 200 scientific presentations, and has authored over 120 peer-reviewed scientific articles. Dr. Sadda holds leadership positions in many scholarly societies, currently serving on the Executive Committee of the Macula Society.
