Stanley Fahn, MD serves as the H. Houston Merritt Professor of Neurology. A regarded author and researcher, he was listed as one of the most highly cited authors by the Institute of Scientific Information. Dr. Fahn is author of Principles and Practice of Movement Disorders, 2nd Edition.
Dr. Fahn is the founding director of the Dystonia Clinical Research Center at Columbia and has served as Director of the Center for Parkinson’s Disease and Other Movement Disorders. He is a lifetime honorary member of the Dystonia Clinical Medical Research Foundation, and has served on the medical advisory boards of the Myoclonus Research Foundation, the Scientific Advisory Board of American Parkinson’s Disease Association, and on the Committee to Combat Huntington Disease. Additionally, Dr. Fahn has served as president of the American Academy of Neurology and second vice president of the American Neurological Association. He founded the Movement Disorder Society and was the founding co-editor of the journal Movement Disorders. He has also served as associate editor of Neurology.
Further highlighting his accomplishments and involvement in the field, Dr. Fahn is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the U.S. National Academies, honorary member of the Movement Disorder Society, honorary member of the American Academy of Neurology, honorary member of the American Neurological Association, and honorary member of numerous international honor societies.
