Theodore E. Keats, MD had a long, distinguished career in medicine and radiology, publishing more than 220 scientific articles and fifty three book chapters. He was the well-known author of nine textbooks, including the renowned Atlas of Normal Roentgen Variants That May Simulate Disease, 9th Edition. Dr. Keats was also editor in chief of the academic journals Skeletal Radiology, Current Problems in Diagnostic Radiology, Applied Radiology, and Emergency Radiology.
Dr. Keats received his MD at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. He went on to the University of Michigan Hospital, where he completed his residency in radiology. During his career, he would serve as a teacher and mentor to shape the careers of several generations of radiologists. He was the Robley Dunglison Award recipient for Outstanding Clinical Teacher at University of Virginia and winner of the Raven Award. Dr. Keats also received Gold Medals, one from The American College of Radiology and the other from the American Society of Emergency Radiology. He had a lengthy involvement with the American College of Radiology as both a Fellow and Member of the Board of Trustees.
