Thomas Boyer, MD is the Director of the Arizona Liver Institute and the John J. Lee Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona. Dr. Boyer is well recognized in the field of hepatology. He has published more than 70 research articles and 22 textbook chapters. He is an author of Zakim and Boyer’s Hepatology, 6th Edition.
Dr. Boyer is past-president of the American Association for Study of Liver Diseases. Additionally, he is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association, the International Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Society of Clinical Investigation, and the American Society for Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. Dr. Boyer has been named among the “Best Doctors in America” for four years.
He holds an MD from University of Southern California. For several years, Dr. Boyer served as Chief of Gastroenterology at the San Francisco VA, and then served as the Director of the Division of Digestive Disease and Medical Director of the Liver Transplant program at Emory University. He is a renowned researcher with multiple ongoing studies sponsored by pharmaceutical companies and government agencies.
