Timothy Deer, MD is recognized in the field of pain management and has taught extensively in the area of neuromodulation. His research areas of interest include stimulation for occipital induced migraine, stimulation for peripheral nerve disorders and stimulation for patients after stroke. Dr. Deer lectures around the country on pain management topics and has served as a visiting professor at a number of medical schools.
Dr. Deer has held numerous appointments including serving as Chairman of the American Society of Anesthesiologists committee on Pain Medicine. He has also served as President of the West Virginia Society of Anesthesiologists, President of the West Virginia Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and Representative to the Carrier Advisory Committee to Medicare for Ohio and West Virginia, and is on the Board of Directors for the North American Neuromodulation Society. Dr. Deer has served the editorial committees for the journals Neuromodulation, Pain Medicine and Pain Physician. He is also the series editor of the Interventional and Neuromodulatory Techniques for Pain Management five volume series.
