William E. Benitz, MD is Philip Sunshine Professor in Neonatology, Chief, Division of Neonatal and Developmental Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine; Director of Nurseries, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, California. He is the author of Infectious Disease and Pharmacology, a volume in the Neonatology Questions and Controversies series and co-author of Fetal and Neonatal Physiology, 5th Edition and Year Book of Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine 2016.
Dr. Benitz received his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine, where he also performed a Neonatology Fellowship. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
Dr. Benitz’s research interests include patent ductus arteriosus, pulmonary hypertension of the newborn, infant ventilation, and neonatal clinical protocols/clinical pathways, as well as clinical trials involving sulbactam vs. ampicillin and gentamicin for treatment of chorioamnionitis.
