“It not only covers cell to bedside, it also covers genes to guidelines. It’s a living text.” – Dr. John Camm
I went into medicine because as a young boy I had to choose between history and biology and I chose biology. That seemed to consign me to a career in medicine. Interestingly I went into cardiology because I was fascinated as a medical student with the electrocardiogram. I studied it so much that I gained a reputation as the student who understood the electrocardiogram well. Although I tried several times to escape from cardiology, I always came back to it.
Electrophysiological Disorders of the Heart is comprehensive in nature. It not only covers cell to bedside, it also covers genes to guidelines. It’s a living text. The online version is updated regularly and is critically important to clinicians so they can stay on top of the subject at all times. There’s a wealth of supplementary information online. A clinician can look at the material online and see for example, electrophysiological traces, electrocardiograms, investigations, and so forth.
Clinical cardiac electrophysiology is getting more and more complicated. There are so many papers and journals and manuscripts that are published nowadays that the clinical cardiologist needs a way to synthesize the information. The purpose of any textbook is to try to distill the content of the modern literature and make it palatable for a clinician whose time is very limited. We have tried our very best to state things succinctly and comprehensively so that the clinical electrophysiologist can be thoroughly educated with the modern aspects of his subject.
