Anil Nanda, MD, MPH, FACS is Professor, Department of Neurosurgery, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at Shreveport. He is the author of Complications in Neurosurgery.

Dr. Nanda earned his medical degree with honors from JIPMER, Madras University. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia followed by fellowship training in microneurosurgery and cranial base surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. He also received a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health. As part of his curriculum, Dr. Nanda helped pass the Louisiana Youth Concussion Law, requiring all schools, clubs, and other organizations that sponsor youth athletics to provide athletes and their parents with information about concussions and the potential long-term effects of playing after a head injury. In 2017 he was awarded a Doctorate in Humane Letters by Centenary College.

Committed to the expansion of higher education, Dr. Nanda has been the invited guest lecturer and visiting professor at over 400 national and international conferences and institutions. He has also published over 425 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, as well as two books. He has been honored with the Living Legend Award in 1996; recognition as an Outstanding Leader of 2005 by The Times in Shreveport; induction into the Junior Achievement of North Louisiana 2011 Business Hall of Fame for leadership, determination, ethics, and giving back to the community; and numerous consecutive listings in Best Doctors in America. Dr. Nanda has served as President of the North American Skull Base Society, Louisiana State Neurosurgical Society, Southern Neurosurgical Society, and Society of University Neurosurgeons. He was awarded with the Distinguished Service Award from the Society of University Neurosurgeons in 2015.

Dr. Nanda specializes in general and spinal neurosurgery, as well as skull base tumors, AVMs, aneurysms, and Gamma Knife radiosurgery.  He has performed more than 2,500 surgeries on aneurysms and skull base tumors.
