Augustus D. Mazzocca, MS, MD is Professor and Chairman, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington Connecticut. He is a co-author of Biologics in Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Mazzocca received an MD from University of Connecticut School of Medicine and an MS in Applied Physiology from Springfield College. After an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at University of Connecticut School of Medicine, he performed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at RUSH University. At UConn Health, he is the director of the Orthopedic Bioskills Laboratory, and director of Resident Education for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He is also an active team physician for the UConn athletic teams. Dr. Mazzocca specializes in the management of shoulder and elbow problems.
Dr. Mazzocca is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society, as well as being a member of the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and Elbow. He is a co-founder of the New England Shoulder and Elbow Society, a regional society dedicated to educating and researching problems related to the shoulder and elbow.
Dr. Mazzocca has three patents on devices and processes to improve healing of rotator cuff repairs and has designed three products used to reconstruct shoulder injuries.
