Christine A. Iacobuzio-Donahue, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor of Pathology, Oncology and Surgery in the Department of Pathology, Division of Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore. She earned her MD and PhD in Pathology from Boston University School of Medicine. Upon graduation, she completed a residency in Anatomic Pathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, during the final year of which she served as one of two appointed Chief Residents. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Gastrointestinal Oncology in the lab of Scott Kern, MD, a renowned pancreatic cancer researcher and pioneer in the field of pancreatic cancer genetics, as well as a Gastrointestinal/Liver Pathology fellowship at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Iacobuzio-Donahue joined the full-time Pathology faculty at Johns Hopkins in 2003 as an Instructor and was promoted later in 2003 to an Assistant Professor of Pathology and Oncology prior to assuming her present position. She is also an affiliate faculty member of the Center for Epigenetic Studies.
Dr. Iacobuzio-Donahue’s research focuses on understanding how pancreatic cancers grow and spread to other organs, and developing new drugs tailored specifically to the unique features of this disease. She is the author of Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology, 2nd Edition, a title in the Foundations in Diagnostic Pathology series. Dr. Iacobuzio-Donahue is also a contributor to Surgical Pathology of the GI Tract, Liver, Biliary Tract and Pancreas.
