Craig M. Kessler, MD is an attending hematologist/oncologist and Professor of Medicine, Pathology, and Oncology at the Vincent Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He is also Director of the Coagulation Laboratory in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Georgetown. Dr. Kessler is co-author of Consultative Hemostasis and Thrombosis, 3rd Edition.
Dr. Kessler received his medical degree from Tulane University and performed his postgraduate work at the Oschner Foundation Hospital and Clinic and the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is board certified in internal medicine and hematology.
Dr. Kessler’s clinical and research interests include anemias, bleeding disorders, coagulation and platelet disorders, hematologic malignancies, myeloproliferative diseases, thrombophilias and hemophilias, and treatment of hematologic diseases.
Under Dr. Kessler’s direction, Lombardi’s Center for Thrombotic and Bleeding Disorders and the federally funded Comprehensive Hemophilia Care Center, are among the most respected treatment and research programs in the country. Dr. Kessler has received the Top Oncology/Hematology Doctors Award from Washingtonian Magazine and has been named a U.S. News Top Doctor in the top 1% of his specialty.
