Harold R. Collard, MD is Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco. He is a co-author of Interstitial Lung Disease.

 

Dr. Collard earned his medical degree at Duke University. He completed his residency in internal medicine at UCSF, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado. He is currently the Director of the UCSF Interstitial Lung Disease Program and the Co-Director of the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute.

 

Dr. Collard’s research focuses on populations of patients with interstitial lung disease. Prior to joining UCSF, he was a member of the Interstitial Lung Disease Program at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver. Dr. Collard is currently conducting projects investigating acute exacerbations of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, predicting disease progression, factors contributing to patients’ symptoms of shortness of breath and ways to improve patients’ quality of life, and clinical trials of promising but unproven therapies for patients with interstitial lung disease.
