Itai Danovitch, MD is Associate Professor, Psychiatry & Behavioral Neurosciences; Chair, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, California. He is a co-author of The Assessment and Treatment of Addiction: Best Practices and New Frontiers.
Dr. Danovitch received his MD from UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. After a residency at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia Medical Center, he performed a fellowship at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
His clinical interests concentrate on the assessment and treatment substance use disorders, as well as the integration of medical and mental health services. He is the author of over 50 original articles and book chapters, and was the co-editor of the 2012 Psychiatric Clinics of North America special edition on addiction.
As an educator, Dr. Danovitch has been recognized with the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and Past President of the California Society of Addiction Medicine. In 2016, Danovitch was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to serve as a Commissioner on the California Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission.
