James D. Frame, FRCS, FRCS (Plast.) is Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Professor of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Director of Cosmetic and Aesthetic Surgery at Springfield Hospital, Chelmsford, Essex, UK and Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Professor of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, School of Medicine, Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford, Essex, UK. He is a co-author of Aesthetic Surgery Techniques.
Professor Frame studied medicine at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, after which he began his career as a plastic surgeon, training at Barts, Southampton, Chelmsford, UCH, St Andrew’s Billericay and Mount Vernon in Middlesex. He also consulted at a busy Harley Street medical practice for fifteen years.
He has spent time as a Visiting Professor in Singapore, Australia, the Middle East, and the United States and has strong international links in research and training. These were brought about by the awards of traveling Fellowships – in particular, the Winston Churchill Memorial Fellowship which allowed him extensive exposure to USA Burns Unit facilities.
Professor Frame edits and is a prolific published author of over 100 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters, and articles on burn care, trauma, and reconstruction and in aesthetic surgery. As a Senior House Officer and Registrar, he was the main author and researcher in the field of advanced burn injury care, tissue transplantation and regeneration. He continued his special interests within the NHS, including burn care, breast cancer reconstruction, and the surgical repair of soft tissue sports injuries particularly in elite athletes, and into private practice.
Professor Frame is an active member of a number of professional associations and has served in many leadership positions, including President of the UK Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (UKAAPS) and Executive Committee Member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (BAAPS). He has also been a Chair of Committee and the UK National Secretary in the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS) and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). He is on the Editorial Board of the acclaimed Aesthetic Surgery Journal (ASJ) and the PMFA News.
