James J. Nocton, MD, FAAP is Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Section of Rheumatology, Director, Pediatric Residency Training Program, Department of Pediatrics, Medical College of Wisconsin and the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He is a co-author of On Call Pediatrics, 4th Edition.

Dr. Nocton received his MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his Chief Residency in Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University, Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and a fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology at Tufts University School of Medicine. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Rheumatology

In addition to his interests in caring for children with rheumatic diseases, Dr. Nocton has a strong interest in medical education. He has been a previous Chair of the Midwest Region of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors, and has served two terms on the Executive Committee of the Section on Rheumatology of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has helped to develop a number of new curricula for medical students and residents within the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW).

Dr. Nocton has published peer-reviewed articles in medical education and in pediatric rheumatology. Dr. Nocton has won his department’s teaching award as the outstanding teacher of students three separate times and as the outstanding teacher of residents once. He was elected by the MCW students to the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary society and is also a member of the MCW Society of Teaching Scholars.
