James M. Ritter, DPhil, FRCP, FBPharmacolS, FMedSci is Emeritus Professor of Clinical Pharmacology, King’s College London, and Medical Research Director, Quintiles, London. He is a co-author of Rang & Dale’s Pharmacology, 9th Edition.

Professor Ritter has made important contributions to the understanding of prostaglandin biosynthesis, particularly that low dose aspirin is an inhibitor of thomboxane biosynthesis that relatively spares prostacyclin. He has worked on endothelial dysfunction in cardiovascular disease, and has pioneered the use of pulse waveform analysis for measuring endothelial function non-invasively, as a tool for use in large-scale outcome trials in cardiovascular disease.

Professor Ritter is a Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society.
