John L. Cameron, MD has served as the Chief of Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital for nearly 20 years and is also the Alfred Blalock Distinguished Service Professor of Surgery at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He has a long-standing interest in alimentary tract disease and pancreatic cancer, and during his career has operated on more patients with pancreatic cancer and done more Whipple resections than any other surgeon in the world.

A leader in the field, Dr. Cameron has served as president of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, president of the Society of Surgical Chairmen, president of the Southern Surgical Association, president of the Halsted Society, and president of the American Surgical Association. He is author of the 10th edition of Current Surgical Therapy.
