Longjian Liu, MD, PhD, MSc (LSHTM), FAHA is Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine, and Former Interim Chair, Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health in Philadelphia. He is the author of Heart Failure: Epidemiology and Research Methods.

 

Prior to joining Drexel, Dr. Liu received his training in medicine, epidemiology, and biostatistics in leading universities of China, the United Kingdom, Japan, and the United States. Dr. Liu is a Fellow of the American Heart Association, a Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and serves as co-Chair of the American Public Health Association Epidemiology Section – Cardiovascular and Diabetes Research Interest Group.

 

Dr. Liu’s research has focused on epidemiology of cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, aging-related neurodegenerative disorders, and biomarkers, drug resistance, and environmental – drug interactions on disease control and prevention. He has extensive research experience in working with several regional, national,and international studies. He has published more than 70 articles in peer-reviewed national and international journals. The goal of his research is to translate research findings to disease and risk factor control and prevention.

 

Dr. Liu also has international collaborative studies with China and Japan on climate change, urbanization, and changes in lifestyles as risk factors for non-communicable disease. He serves as an academic advisor for master’s theses and doctoral dissertations’ projects, and teaches courses on cardiovascular disease epidemiology and prevention, pharmacoepidemiology, and epidemiology for public health practice.
