Michael J. Snyder, MD, FACS is Associate Clinical Professor of Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He practices in the Texas Medical Center and is the program director for the Colon and Rectal Residency Program through the University of Texas Health Science Center. He is a co-author of Colorectal Surgery.

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Dr. Snyder attended college at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he earned degrees in both microbiology and chemistry. Dr. Snyder earned his medical degree at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, and completed his general surgery training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. During his training, he had the opportunity to lead a clinic in Turkey for a year and was deployed to Saudi Arabia with the 3rd ACR for Operations Desert Shield and Storm. After the first Gulf War, Dr. Snyder completed his residency in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas, and joined the Colon and Rectal Clinic of Houston.

Dr. Snyder is a member of multiple medical societies and is currently the cancer representative from the American College of Surgeons to The Methodist Hospital. He has authored multiple medical publications and made numerous presentations. Dr. Snyder is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
