Mohammad A. Vasef, MD is a Professor in the Department of Pathology, University of New Mexico School of Medicine; Director, Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship Program, University of New Mexico Health Sciences; Director, Molecular Diagnostics, TriCore Ref Laboratories, Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is the lead author of Diagnostic Pathology: Molecular Oncology, 2nd Edition.

Dr. Vasef received his medical degree from the University of Tehran School of Medicine. He did his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University, followed by a fellowship in Hematopathology at City of Hope National Medical Center. He is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Hematology, and Molecular Genetic Pathology.

His interests include molecular pathogenesis of hematopoietic tumors, next generation sequencing and changing role of pathology practice, molecular genetic pathology fellowship training, and hematopathology.
