Nilam Soni, MD is an academic hospitalist and Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. He is the senior editor of Point of Care Ultrasound, 2nd Edition.
After completing his MD at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Soni performed residencies at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Soni has extensive experience with Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) and has taught a “Point-of-Care Ultrasound for the Hospitalist” course for 10 years. He is also the assistant director of POCUS training programs with Veterans Affairs’ Simulation Learning Education and Research Network. Dr. Soni also has interests in the development of continuing medical education events and evidence-based medicine.
Dr. Soni is the visionary and chief editor of Point-of-Care Ultrasound, the first ultrasound book to support all specialties at different provider levels. The first edition of this text received the President’s Choice award and Highly Commended in Internal Medicine award from the British Medical Association.
