Richard W. Dehn, MPA, PA-C is Founding Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at Northern Arizona University. He is the co-author, with David P. Asprey, of Essential Clinical Procedures, 3rd Edition.
Before joining the faculty at Northern Arizona University, Dehn was FNP/PA Program Director at the University of California at Davis. Previously, he served as the Assistant Director of the PA Program at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He holds the rank of Emeritus Professor from the University of Iowa.
Awards received by Dehn include the American Academy of Physician Assistants Paragon Publishing Award, the Association of PA Programs Research Achievement Award, and the Iowa PA Society “PA of the Year” Award. He has over thirty years of clinical experience as a PA in family medicine, during which he has consistently advocated for the provision of primary care services in underserved populations.
Dehn has authored over 100 journal articles and many book chapters. He has presented national workshops on performing research and scholarly work, designing Physician Assistant program curricula, and writing for publication.
Dehn received his MPA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA, in 1991. He holds a BS in medicine from the University of Iowa College of Medicine PA Program.
