Richard Mitchell, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor of Pathology and Health Sciences and Technology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Mitchell researches the mechanisms underlying acute and chronic rejection in solid organ allografts, with specific emphasis on heart transplants. He is author of the Pocket Companion to Robbins and Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease, 8th Edition and a co-author of Robbins and Cotran Pathology Flashcards.
Dr. Mitchell is recipient of the Biomedical Enterprise Program Teaching Award; the Health Sciences and Technology Teaching Award, Best Overall Lecturer; the Thomas A. McMahon Mentoring Award, HST; the Faculty Prize for Excellence in Teaching, Harvard Medical School; and the Irving M. London Teaching Award, HST. He is also a recipient of the Medical Foundation/Charles A. King Trust Fellowship, Brigham & Women’s Hospital.
