Richard A. Prayson, MD, is the section head of Neuropathology in the Department of Anatomic Pathology, Cleveland Clinic Foundation at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. He is the author of Neuropathology, 2nd Edition, a volume in the Foundations in Diagnostic Pathology series.

Dr. Prayson is considered to be one of country’s leading experts on brain cancer (meningioma) and spinal cord cancer. His expertise also extends to oligodendroglioma, CNS tumor (ependymoma,) calcinosis, choristoma, and granuloma.

Dr. Prayson obtained his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1988. He performed a residency at the Cleveland Clinic in anatomic and clinical pathology in 1993. Dr. Prayson also holds a BS in biology from Case Western Reserve University.

Board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, Dr. Prayson is a member of several professional associations including the American Association of Neuropathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathologists, Cleveland Society of Pathologists, College of American Pathologists, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. Dr. Prayson is the author of over 200 articles and publications.
