S. David Hudnall, MD, FCAP, is a professor of pathology and laboratory medicine and director of the Hematopathology Program at the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. He is also Division Chief of Hematopathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He is the author of Hematology: A Pathophysiologic Approach, a volume in the Mosby’s Physiology Monograph series.

Board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and in hematology, Dr. Hudnall received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1978. He performed an anatomic pathology residency at the Yale University School of Medicine, as well as a residency in laboratory medicine. He went on to complete a pathology fellowship at Harvard Medical School in 1984.

Dr. Hudnall has special expertise in chronic B-cell lymphocytic leukemia, herpesviridae infections, Hodgkin disease, lymphoma, lymphoproliferative disorders, and mono infectious mononucleosis. He is investigating the role of virus infection, chronic inflammation, and altered immunity in the development and progression of human cancer, and the possibility of inhibiting cancer using immuno-modulating and anti-inflammatory agents.

Dr. Hudnall has over 25 years of practical experience in laboratory hematology and has taught thousands of medical and undergraduate students.
