Sook-Bin Woo, DMD, MMSc, is an associate professor in the Department of Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity at the Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She is also the director of clinical services at the Division of Oral Medicine and Dentistry at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Dr. Woo is the author of Oral Pathology: A Comprehensive Atlas and Text.
Board certified in both oral pathology and oral medicine, Dr. Woo graduated with a BDS from Singapore University in 1980. She received her MS in oral pathology from Indiana University, and completed a fellowship in head and neck pathology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
Dr. Woo earned her DMD from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and undertook further training in oral and maxillofacial pathology, receiving her MMSc degree in 1991. In 1997, she became chief of the service and director of the graduate training program in oral and maxillofacial pathology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
The author of many scholarly papers and book chapters, and a reviewer for several journals, Dr. Woo has served on the Fellowship Committee and Executive Council of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. She also serves on the board of the American Academy of Oral Medicine. Honors and awards received by Dr. Woo include a National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health, and an American Cancer Society Career Development Award.
