Stephen G. Spiro, MD serves as head of the Department of Thoracic Medicine at University College London Hospitals NHS Trust. He is also clinical director of the Centre for Respiratory Research, Rayne Institute. His interests include clinical trials in lung cancer and the treatment of lung cancer, respiratory physiology, and sleep disordered breathing. He is an editor of Clinical Respiratory Medicine, 4th Edition.

An active member of numerous professional and research organizations, Dr. Spiro is chair of the London Lung Cancer Group, is former president of the European Respiratory Society, is former chair of the Royal College of Physicians Subcommittee on Respiratory Medicine, and former president of the British Thoracic Society.
