Thomas L. Pope, MD is professor of Radiology and Orthopaedics and director of Mammography at the Medical University of South Carolina. His primary academic interests are breast imaging and musculoskeletal imaging. Dr. Pope has had a prolific publishing career, and has co-edited 11 medical books, and has collaborated on 35 chapters and over 150 articles and is an author of the 2-volume set, Imaging of the Musculoskeletal System.

Dr. Pope received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia for residency.  Certified by the American Board of Radiology in 1983, Dr. Pope’s initial appointment was as an assistant professor of Radiology at the University of Virginia.  Dr. Pope has served as a guest examiner for the American Board of Radiology 11 times.
