Vijay Nambi, MD is Associate Professor of Medicine and Program Director, Lipids and Lipoprotein Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston; and Staff Cardiologist at Micheal E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Hospital. He is the author of Biomarkers in Cardiovascular Disease.
Dr. Nambi earned an MBBS from Madras Medical College in Madras, India. He performed postgraduate work at Baylor College of Medicine, Michael Reese Hospital, and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
Dr. Nambi has been involved with several national societies in different capacities: he has been an officer in the Southwest Lipid Association, served as the chair of the vascular council and member of the education committee at the American Society of Echocardiography, was a speaker/grant reviewer for the American Heart Association, and was the topic coordinator for the prevention sessions of the American College of Cardiology. He is locally and nationally known as an expert in lipidology and cardiovascular prevention.
His research interests are primarily in evaluating the use of imaging (ultrasound) and biomarkers in cardiovascular risk prediction and prevention. He has been very involved with the Atherosclerosis Risk In Communities (ARIC) study and serves on the ancillary study section of the ARIC study. He has over than 90 publications and has been an invited speaker at several national conferences.
