Charles E. Giangarra, MD is Professor, Vice Chairman, and Chief, Marshall Athletics and Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia. He is a co-author of Clinical Orthopaedic Rehabilitation: A Team Approach, 4th Edition.

 

Charles “Chuck” Giangarra earned his medical degree from the State University of New York, downstate College of Medicine before a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Montefiore Medical Center. He completed advanced training in Sports Medicine at his fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles. He is a Team Physician for Marshall Athletics, is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, and holds a certificate of added qualification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in Sports Medicine.

 

Dr. Giangarra is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, and member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, and Olympic Team Physician Society. He has served as an orthopaedic consultant and team physician to Stanford University, the San Francisco Giants and New Orleans Saints summer camps, and the United States Olympic team. He specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries in the active, health conscious population from pediatric to geriatric, with particular emphasis on arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle.
